I Miss The Days Of Art, Love, & Adventuring…

There was a time—not so long ago—when life felt lighter. We lived for love. We created without fear. We packed up our bags for spontaneous adventures, breathing in the world without a heavy shadow hanging over our heads.

Now, it feels different.

It feels heavier.

With the current political climate, with headlines that seem to scream instead of sing, with rights we thought were unshakable now trembling at their foundations—our days are filled with worry, anxiety, and a constant fight for our civil rights. And while I wish I could pretend none of it exists, pretending would be a lie. Ignoring it would be blatant disregard for the truths that are shaping our world.

The reality is:

We can’t just not see it.

We can’t just not feel it.

But here’s the thing—while we can’t close our eyes to what’s happening, we also can’t let it consume every drop of our creative spirit. We can’t hand over the love, the art, and the joy to fear and division. If we do, the world loses even more than it already has.

So the question becomes: What can we do?

What can we do to keep creativity alive? To still love one another deeply? To still live in a world where adventures are more than a memory?

I don’t have all the answers—but I have some thoughts.

Ways to Keep Love, Art, and Adventure Alive in a Time of Uncertainty

1. Make Creativity a Daily Ritual

Even if it’s only for ten minutes, carve out a non-negotiable time for creativity. Paint, write, take photos, dance in your living room—whatever your art is. The act of creating is a rebellion against the darkness.

2. Give Love in Small, Tangible Ways

Not all acts of love have to be grand gestures. Compliment a stranger. Send a message to an old friend. Hold the door for someone. These moments are tiny sparks that keep humanity warm.

3. Seek Adventures Close to Home

Adventure doesn’t have to mean boarding a plane or scaling a mountain. It can be discovering a trail you’ve never walked, visiting a town you’ve never explored, or even trying a cuisine you’ve never tasted. The spirit of adventure is a mindset, not a mileage count.

4. Protect Your Mental Space

The constant stream of news can be suffocating. Limit your doom-scrolling. Stay informed, yes, but set boundaries. Replace some of that screen time with music, a walk, or time with people who lift you up.

5. Stand Up, But Don’t Burn Out

Fighting for our rights is essential, but so is resting. You can’t show up for the causes you care about if you’re completely drained. Pace yourself. Share the load with your community. Remember that joy is also resistance.

We can’t undo the truth of the world we’re in, but we can choose how we show up in it.

We can choose to still create.

We can choose to still love.

We can choose to still wander and explore.

Because maybe—just maybe—if enough of us refuse to let go of love, art, and adventure, we’ll pull the world back toward them again.
